How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks that could have otherwise needed working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right alternative for carrying tasks from heights.

Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.

In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located inside the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, units which are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.

Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely take place.
