Inventor Jerome Case established the business of CASE in Racine, when he began the building of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition globally as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the business grew to become the world's biggest maker of steam engines.
By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction machine business. The rapidly started to make road building machines such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machine company through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the mid-1990s to become the leading producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
During 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for marketing some of the top brands of agricultural and construction machinery in the world.
